Frenchtown's Witches Dance

Frenchtown, New Jersey becomes a hub of supernatural synergy each year thanks to the annual Witches Dance, a spellbinding spectacle orchestrated by instructor Tricia Hurley. Drawing on her extensive background as a belly dancer, Hurley masterfully choreographs the elaborate routine performed by hundreds of participants at Sunbeam Park to Peter Fox's "Schüttel deinen Speck" . The dance has grown exponentially, becoming a beloved local tradition that draws both curiosity and commitment from the surrounding communities and even as far as Denmark.

The unique allure of the Frenchtown Witches Dance lies in the eclectic mix of individuals who gather to participate, a point Hurley emphasizes when discussing the event's broad appeal. "There's so many types of people that do the Witches Dance. The community aspect of it. Everyone in Frenchtown gets to come together and dance," she noted. While the majority of participants are enthusiastic community members simply celebrating the season, Hurley adds a fascinating footnote: "There's also people that are real witches." This blend of community spirit, artistic choreography, and genuine mystical involvement ensures the Frenchtown Witches Dance remains a must-see event, cementing Tricia Hurley's role as the coven's chief choreographer.
